Judi Adams has over 25 years experience in organizational development and planning. She is nationally recognized as an expert in strategic planning for the development of Family Justice Centers; a national initiative dealing with domestic and family violence. She is a Mentor Trainer in Techniques of Participation (ToP™) Group Facilitation Methods; a licensed Marriage, Family Therapist and has a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Southern California. She wrote the chapter on Strategic Planning for San Diego Family Justice Center’s Training Workbook: Hope for Hurting Families: Creating Family Justice Centers Across America. Judi co-authored an article on Cognitive Behavioral Parent Education published in the International Journal of Child Abuse and Neglect.
Recognition – Adams & Adams has received recognition from a number of organizations: the San Diego Urban League; the Guardian Angel Award from the San Diego Domestic Violence Council; California State Senate for “sharing knowledge and professional services with their community – FireSafe San Diego County”; Sonoma County Children and Families Commission – for facilitating the development of the countywide Home Visiting Program for First Born Infants, to mention a few.
Adams & Adams - Judi is vice president of Adams & Adams Consulting and Training, Inc. and specializes in participatory strategic planning, resource development and training services for local, state and national public and non-profit organizations. Adams & Adams has trained an impressive cadre of associates who are matched with clients according to areas of expertise: Carol Boyce, PhD – for-profit businesses; Aja Moerler, MSOD – non-profits and government agencies; Marti Hess – resource development and non-profit management; and Mary McClellan – land use and development projects.
In San Diego - Adams & Adams currently serves as the principal Strategic Planner for the San Diego Family Justice Center (SDFJC). Funded by the California Wellness Foundation, Judi is the lead planner on this project and her responsibilities include working with the Center’s leadership team, on-site partners and community partners to create a multidisciplinary strategic planning team to develop and implement a five year strategic planning process to make the SDFJC fully operational.
Adams & Adams was selected by the San Diego County Department of Education to facilitate a county wide planning process to create the Master Plan for Preschool For All. Adams & Adams provides strategic planning services to YMCA CRS, San Diego Metro Commission, Vista Public Arts Commission, County Department of Planning and Land Use, the North County Transit District, and the La Jolla Music Society. Adams & Adams is currently working with the UCSD School of Medicine, providing organizational assessment and strategic planning services for the Physician Assessment and Continuing Education program. Most recently, she has been selected to be the strategic planner for the new East County Family Justice Center.
Adams & Adams’ expertise includes working with diverse collaborations helping them to design and implement planning processes to achieve their collective goals. Examples include the Bronze Triangle Community Development Corporation, the North County Faith Based Collaboration, Bayview Baptist Community Development Corporation and the Greater Golden Hill Community Development Corporation.
Across the Country – From March 2004 to present, Judi served as the strategic planning consultant Technical Assistance Team for the new President’s Family Justice Center Initiative. She designed and manages an overarching strategic planning process for 15 new Family Justice Centers being developed across the country under this Initiative.
Domestic Violence - In addition, Adams & Adams is providing strategic planning for new Family Justice Centers in Riverside County, Los Angeles County (South Bay), Anaheim CA, Tacoma Washington and Omaha. Judi also served as strategic planner to the San Diego Domestic Violence Council for five years, helped establish guidelines for a county wide domestic violence hotline, worked with the SDFJC ’s Audit Committee to evaluate San Diego’s DV response systems, and with San Diego’s Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee. She provided strategic planning for the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women, Borrego Springs Domestic Violence Council, and the California Corporate Domestic Violence Leadership Team.
Judi lives in San Diego with her husband, Carl – the President. They have six grown children. |
